About our fabrics
Silk as a fabric dates back to over 5000 years ago in China. We partner with China based factories to produce our pieces as they are specialists in this field.
Silk is a delicate fabric, and should always be worn and treated with care. Avoid wearing with sharp accessories and jewellery with our silk pieces, as the surface can pull or snag due to its delicate nature. When selecting your size, always check your measurements, and if in doubt - or if you are inbetween sizes in any areas - then size up, and this should help to avoid any pull damage at the seams. Each style has its own sizing advise so please also refer to that - or reach our to our Customer Care team who can assist.
We choose the type and weight of silk that we use for each design specifically, to bring to life what becomes your favourite Réal pieces.
Should you have any other questions about the specific care of any of our pieces and you don't find the information below, please contact talktomebaby@realisationpar.com.
Silk
Silk Crepe de Chine (CDC)
This is a flat and densely woven silk, with a slight lustre to the surface - and a core fabric for most of our Réal styles. We use this in three weights - light, medium and heavy, all of which have been specifically selected for the design they are used. Some of our styles require more structure and drape - some we love to be light and airy and glide off your hips. The lighter fabric weights of crepe de chine and light colored prints can be slightly sheer, so should be paired with nude underwear.
Silk CDC is a more durable silk then the chiffon, jianhong crepe and georgette counterparts, but should still be taken care of - see our Care Guide below for more info.
Silk Satin
This silk is woven with a high-shine satin weave that gives it a shiny, lustrous appearance on one side. This is another of our core Réal fabrics, and we use this in a medium weight for our Naomi, Cookies & Joni skirts.
Silk Satin Jacquard
This silk is a medium silk, woven with a speciality design. A high-shine satin weave gives it a high-shine base, and a matte crepe contrast is woven through to create the motif through the fabric, and this also gives it a matte reverse side.
Silk Jianhong Crepe
Jianhong crepe is a delicate, textured crepe georgette, with a slightly textured surface. We use this in a light weight, and as it is less dense than crepe de chine, this fabric is ever so slightly sheer, light and airy. We use this in our Rainey and Gia, and Isabelli in Animal.
Silk Georgette
This is lightweight, slightly sheer, matte crepe-textured fabric. As this is a sheer fabric, we do sometimes use this with lining, but otherwise - it is a fabric intended to be sheer.
Due to its more open weave, this is a very delicate and fine silk, so should be taken special care of, and if in doubt, size up so as not to pull at the seams.
Silk Crepon
Silk crepon is just like our silk georgette - but with a tiny textured pleat to the surface. Sheer, matte and delicate - we use this in our Lila dress.
Silk Chiffon
Silk chiffon is a flat, sheer silk with a slight lustre to the surface. We use this on some of our older Réalisation styles - such as the Ozzie - watch this space for any new appearances!
Silk Brocade
We use a specially sourced authentic duchess silk brocade fabric for our Emilie dress - it is a heavy, structured and rigid silk with an intricate jacquard design and no stretch.
Silk Dupioni
This is a type of raw silk, used in our Christy, Dru & Nicolette. This type of silk is a rigid, structured fabric with no stretch. Due to the nature of being a raw silk, the fabric can have irregularities and slubs within the weave - this is a natural characteristic of the silk, and this fabric has been selected with this texture in mind.
Silk & Viscose Blend Velvet and Velvet Devoré
We use a short pile silk velvet with a viscose blend, to give it extra shine and lustre for our velvet styles. This is also the base of our velvet devoré styles - where the viscose pile is burnt away to leave behind just a sheer, fine silk chiffon base and create a burn away design. The fine silk chiffon which is left behind is very delicate, so special care should be taken when wearing not to snag on sharp accessories or jewellery, and not to pull at the seams.
Duchess Satin
Our duchess satin has a silk base chosen for its high shine surface, woven with cotton to give the fabric structure and weight. This fabric holds its shape well but the surface can be delicate - so take care not to snag or wear with sharp jewellery.
Your Réal silk pieces should be dry cleaned
A small area can be spot cleaned with cold water
Hang them up and steam or cool iron from the inside of the fabric to remove any creases
Please don’t ever put them in the machine!
Cotton
Our beloved Réal Merch pieces - tees, totes, socks, boxers, and sweats - are all made from high quality 100% cotton, or a high percentage natural cotton mix. Cotton is breathable, soft and durable.
Your Réal Merch pieces should be machine washed cold
Dry flat and re-shape whilst damp
Only cool iron on the reverse side
Never tumble dry
Denim
Our denim is a high quality 100% cotton 14oz fabric, which makes it very durable. We’ve left it raw for our Nico jacket, meaning no harsh chemical washes have been used on the fabric, which is much better for the environment than other denims.
Your Réal Denim pieces should be machine washed cold
Dry flat and re-shape whilst damp
Never tumble dry
As this is raw denim, colour may transfer to light colour fabrics or surfaces
Velvet and Velvet Devoré
Our silk-blend velvet and velvet devoré pieces, with added viscose for extra lustre, should be cared for with the same love that you give your silk pieces.
Dry clean only
Steam from the inside of the fabric to remove creases or use a very low heat for ironing on the reverse side only to avoid damage
Stretch Lace
For our stretch lace styles including Cindy, Lola and Gisele - we use specialty stretch lace woven with intricate patterns. With just the right amount of give, this fabric is sheer, durable and supportive. Care should still be taken not to wear with sharp jewellery and accessories.

Knitwear
We carefully select the yarns used in our knitwear pieces specifically for each style.
Due to the soft, fine characteristics of the cashmere and other wools used in our garments, the surfaces may be prone to pilling and abrasion. We recommend washing the garment as suggested on the care label and then removing the pilling with a specially designed tool for this purpose. Over time, the pilling should decrease.
Cashmere & Mercerized Wool
We use this as one of our core yarns across our winter and transeasonal pieces. We have specially selected this yarn for its soft and luxe handfeel and light airy quality.
Wool & Alpaca Blend
We have chosen our wool & alpaca blend yarn for its fine, light airy texture and soft, brushed appearance. This is blended with polyamide for extra durability and softness.
Mercerized Cotton
For our cotton knits, we use a high quality mercerized finish cotton. Mercerization gives the cotton a durable finish and smooth handfeel, making it perfect for tight-fitting knits like our Bobbi shorts.
LENZING™ ECOVERO™ Viscose
One of our specially sourced core yarns is our responsible LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose, which is a sustainable alternative to regular viscose. We have chosen this for its soft handfeel, structure and sustainable quality.
